UPPR is the largest urban poverty reduction initiative in Bangladesh. Its purpose is “To improve the livelihoods and living conditions of three million urban poor and extremely poor people, especially women and girls”. It is funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and UNDP. Its is implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, UNDP, UN-Habitat and respective Municipalities and City Corporations.
